"200 Years Serving Christ and Canton"

Mission Projects

•·         Kenya Mission Project:  It was decided at one of the initial meetings to commit to a substantial mission project over the five year period leading up to the 200th celebration.  The committee decided on a commitment of $2,000 per year (beginning in 2005) to the Kenya Mission Project in thanksgiving for 200 years of God's grace.  The Committee held several fundraisers to meet their commitment to the Kenya Mission Project:  Ice Cream Social in 2005; Parking Lot Sale and T-shirt & Sweatshirt Sales in 2006 and Silent Auction in 2007.  "To God be the Glory"  - The committee was able to not only meet the commitment to the Kenya Mission Project but met it early with the generous bidders at the Silent Auction - three years before the total of $10,000 was due!

•·         "Change to Change a Life":  Designated containers will collect "loose change" from October 2009 through October 2010.  All proceeds will benefit a local charity of the congregation's choosing.  The Anniversary Committee has challenged the congregation to raise at least $200.

•·         "Soap for Hope":  Designated containers will collect "new, wrapped bar soap" from October 2009 through October 2010.  All proceeds will be sent to Lutheran World Relief for distribution worldwide.  The Anniversary Committee has challenged the congregation to collect at least 200 pounds of bar soap.
